Obesity and Brain's response to Dopamine

An interesting study by Eric Stice of Oregon Research Institute has shown that obesity is probably associated with genes with relatively fewer dopamine receptors. Studying the brain's (dorsal striatum's, in particular) response to milkshake he found that those with "blunt" response were more likely to gain weight in the future.

Likely reason: Because those with "blunt" responses perhaps derive less pleasure from food, they eat more to compensate.
